We pay the rent for our 21st Birthday!

naomi house and jacksplace, childrens hospice, charity, winchester

In the midst of this glorious heatwave, Naomi House & Jacksplace settled its rent for the 21st time. Usually, a child who uses our support and care services will present the Cornelius-Reid family (our extremely generous landlords) with 12 red roses. This year, however, there was a special surprise instore...

In recognition of our year long 21st birthday celebrations, we decided to increase the amount of roses this time to 21. Pictured above at the front is Emily Smith, who is two years old and has Rett syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects brain development, resulting in severe mental and physical disabilities. From left to right pictured alongside Emily are Dr. Rosemary Reid, Naomi Cornelius-Reid and their brother, David Cornelius-Reid, Emily's parents, Amy and Adam, with Emily's little brother and Lesley Brook, Director of Care and Deputy Chief Executive.

Well done to Emily for making sure our debts are paid for another 12 months!

Emily has been visiting Naomi House for just over a year and her mum Amy said:

Naomi House helps us spend time together as a family and allows us to spend quality time with Emily’s brothers, Bobby and Edward. When she’s here, we know Emily is well-cared for, safe and happy. It was so nice that Emily was able to pay the rent this year. Her future is unclear, but it is comforting to know that we have support should things get really difficult.

We would like to take this opportunity to once again thank the Cornelius-Reid family for their incredible genorosity year after year and for their continued support of Naomi House & Jacksplace. Our Chief Executive, Mark Smith said:

I would like to thank the Cornelius-Reid family for their ongoing support, and thank Emily and family for paying our rent in this our 21st year. Despite being the day that our rent is due, Midsummer’s Day is a moment we all look forward to as it is an opportunity to celebrate an important part of our history and tradition, as well as a chance to look at how far we have come with the support of the communities we serve. I’m delighted that 21 years on, Naomi House & Jacksplace is going from strength to strength, reaching out to more medically complex children and young adults than ever before, and delivering innovative and impactful services that make a real and lasting difference on good days, difficult days and last days.
