Blogs

At Jacksplace, our blogs are more than just words - they’re the voices of the young adults who make our community extraordinary. From independence and adventure to friendships and support, each story reflects the real experiences of those who call Jacksplace home away from home.

We have fun

"Coming to Jacksplace is like having a holiday with friends." At Jacksplace, young adults can enjoy new experiences, meet friends, and take part in exciting activities—from themed parties and live music to gaming and trips out.

We are independent

At Jacksplace, young adults have the freedom to make their own choices, take a break from routine, and enjoy true independence. Whether it’s deciding when to wake up, what to eat, or how to spend their day, they are in control.

We are supported

We form bonds

We form bonds with the people we spend time with. Jacksplace is a special place where young adults with disabilities can come to socialise, have fun, and just be themselves. It's a place where they can make friends, get to know the staff, and feel understood.

We take the plunge

The hydrotherapy pool at Jacksplace offers more than just a swim—it’s a place of freedom, relaxation, and even a little adventure. Whether it’s floating weightlessly, easing muscle pain, or enjoying a pool party with friends, the experience is unique to each person.

Jacksplace Events

At Jacksplace, we host a variety of engaging events designed to foster community, skill-building, and joy among our young adults. Our annual Jestival festival is a highlight, featuring live music from local bands, vibrant decorations, and interactive activities that create a lively atmosphere for all attendees. Another popular event we recently did was the Chicken Shop project, where young adults collaborated with the play team and activities team created a KFC-styled take away meal to serve to families and staff at the hospices. These events not only provide entertainment but also empower participants by enhancing their independence and confidence.
