8 year old Amber from Totton, has been a busy young lady fundraising for Naomi House & Jacksplace. Enlisting the help of her family, she set up a stall on her driveway and sold cakes and plants to raise money for her local hospices for children and young adults.

Amber’s Grandma Val helped her to pot up houseleeks and succulents, and her Grandma Sue and Auntie Vicky helped bake a variety of wonderfully delicious cakes including coffee & walnut, Victoria sponge, rock cakes, cupcakes, butterfly cakes and shortbread. They set up an attractive table on Amber’s driveway, covering it with a delightfully spotty tablecloth and pretty heart shaped bunting.Amber Clark 2There was a fantastic response from neighbours, friends and family, who all came along to the stall and Amber even received donations from people who couldn’t make it on the day, but wanted to show their support.

We asked Amber what gave her the idea to raise money for Naomi House & Jacksplace and she told us:

I really wanted to raise money for Naomi House as I was worried they were not getting money because of the virus and I wanted to help them as they helped my family and still help me when my little brother died. I love baking cakes and gardening, so I thought I could sell the things I made to raise money.

“The best part was seeing all my neighbours come out and some of them brought their grandchildren.  Also my family came as well as my school friends and their parents. I loved seeing everyone together eating cake and chatting.  Everyone was good and they stayed 2 metres apart.”

Amber’s mum, Karen, helped Amber get ready for her fundraising venture and we asked her how she felt about Amber making such a generous gesture.  She told us:

We are incredibly proud of Amber for coming up with the idea and for following it through. She has such a kind heart and it’s lovely to know that even though the worst has happened to us as a family she still wants to help others.

Amber has raised the incredible sum of £300 and we are so delighted and grateful that she has given up her time to help families like hers who are being supported by Naomi House & Jacksplace.
