Team Naomi take on the Three Peaks Challenge!
Seven intrepid fundraisers tackle the three highest peaks in the UK!
The Three Peaks Challenge started on Friday 28th July and our participants set off from Hampshire to take on their first peak, Ben Nevis, in Scotland.
They faced some terrible weather along the way, but they battled on and to make the top of each peak, with Scafell Pike completed at night!
The challenge ended when they took their last steps to reach the bottom of Snowdon, just over 23 hours after they had started.
So far, they have raised more than £2,500 for Naomi House & Jacksplace.
Mark Channon was one of our participants. He said:
Having previously taken part in a Three Peaks challenge, you could say I already knew what to expect, however, it’s always a surprise just how much our minds forget the hard times… To put that into some context, it's 12 hours of hiking, over 33.5 miles with 10,500ft of elevation and despite quite an extensive amount of training leading up to the event, I was promptly reminded that this challenge is not to be taken lightly. That’s what makes it such an achievement to complete and more importantly the type of event that encourages people to support and donate to such a wonderful charity. Despite the weather and the inhibited views, I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and I am proud not only to once again conquer these 3 beautiful mountains but more importantly raise money for such a worthy cause.
Events Fundraiser for Naomi House & Jacksplace, Nicole Davies added:
The team smashed the Three Peaks Challenge in a brilliant time, an amazing result! They raised an incredible amount for our hospices as well as raising our profile. Sponsorship is still coming in, but £2,500 is enough to fund three weeks nursing care for a child staying at Naomi House, so their efforts really have made a difference.
