"Coming to Jacksplace is like having a holiday with friends." We recently spoke to a group of young adults that regularly visit Jacksplace about the variety of activities, new experiences and fun they have at the hospice. They wanted to share their thoughts for anyone who is considering coming to Jacksplace.
They said:
Here at Jacksplace, we like to have fun. We meet up with friends and enjoy different activities and experiences. The Play and Activities Team host a variety of activities to suit our interests, from cooking, baking and arts and crafts, to games, music and themed days. We go on trips out to places like the pub or the theatre. We have visitors come to the hospice too, including live musicians, football clubs, reptiles, and we’ve even had an Escape Room!
One of my favourite memories was the Halloween Party at Jacksplace, where I dressed up as the Grim Reaper!
When young adults visit Jacksplace, they can socialise, play games, have fun and just be themselves. They are in a safe environment and can chat with their friends and staff about any worries or concerns they might have, and enjoy new experiences.
I loved the time where we had a huge water fight on my birthday. We all got completely drenched – it was a lot of fun.
We like technology. We have Sky Sports and watch the latest football matches together. We have movie nights. We have Smart TVs in every room and the latest games consoles. We even have Lifelites technology, so we can game without using our hands.
Play and Activities Team Leader, Claire Potterton, also shared with us the importance of play and activities at Jacksplace.
