Marchwood Junior School hosts Rainbow Run

Marchwood Junior School, based in Southampton, decided to host their very own Rainbow Run in aid of Naomi House & Jacksplace to celebrate year 6 pupils moving onto secondary school.

After learning about Holi, the Hindu Festival of Colours, the school’s junior leadership team decided they wanted to host their own colour event. So, the team approached their teachers to see what types of events would be possible. Head Teacher, Mr Hoskins, had previously been to one of Naomi House & Jacksplace’s Rainbow Runs with his family, so recommended that the school host their own!

The leadership team got to work fundraising, asking for donations for taking part alongside selling merchandise including t-shirts, medals and sunglasses, quickly getting the whole school signed up to run for Naomi and Jack!

We decided to run a fundraiser to make a difference and help children who are in need. Naomi House & Jacksplace’s fundraising team got really involved and were lots of fun; giving us t-shirts and sunglasses to wear and they even came along and gave out medals at the end of the run. The school absolutely loved it – it was a great experience for all.

With the paint stations set up and manned by some willing participants, and the course looping the school grounds, the weather couldn’t have been better for a Rainbow Run. We were thrilled to be invited along on the day, helping hand out our colourful medals to everyone as they crossed the finish line.

It was a pleasure to work with Naomi House & Jacksplace and their team. From the start to finish, they helped with planning and even presented the medals on the finish line! Each year we try to raise awareness of different charities in school - this was a perfect opportunity to do this whilst having lots of fun and raising money for a great cause. The buzz created by the Rainbow Run was fantastic and it has formed memories which I know will live long in the minds of the children. Thank you Naomi House & Jacksplace for all your help!
