Emma takes on another challenge for local hospices

Emma running the ABP Southampton 10k

Emma Hancock takes on yet another challenge in aid of Naomi House & Jacksplace.

After previously supporting the charity by completing the National Three Peaks in 2022, Emma felt she needed to set herself a brand new challenge for 2023.

Emma is not your avid runner but fully enjoys the sport. After running for a few weeks and building on her stamina, Emma signed up for her very first 10k on Sunday 2nd April.

A 10k race has always been daunting to me and having had previous knee injuries I didn’t think it would be possible

— Emma

Emma found the most challenging part of the route to be the Itchen Bridge. Naomi House & Jacksplace’s cheer point is located just before the Itchen Bridge to cheer on the runners from the top of an open top double decker bus.

I felt very nervous to tackle the bridge but after spotting the Naomi House & Jacksplace cheer bus I was motivated to run faster.

The support and encouragement from the whole team really helped me complete the last 3km and I was really pleased with my official finish time.

When you sign up to run for us at any of our events, we’ll send you a fundraising pack with a training t-shirtbuff and top ideas and tools to help with fundraising. You will also receive your very own branded Naomi House & Jacksplace running vest with transfer letters for customisation ready for the run.

I felt honoured to be running for the charity and wearing my personalised NHJP running merchandise at the event and during my training
