We have been caring for children and young people with life-limiting conditions for almost 25 years. Naomi House supports children from birth to 18, and Jacksplace - unique in the South of England as a specialist young adult hospice – supports young people from 18-35 years. We also support the whole family and provide in-house planned respite, step down care, symptom control, end of life care and post bereavement support, and have plans to expand provision to support families in their own home. Our care is delivered by teams of highly skilled nurses and carers and we are seeking additional medical cover to continue to expand and develop our vital work.
With at least five years post graduate medical experience, you will have experience of paediatric and/or palliative care as a GP or from work as a Hospital/Research/Community Paediatrician, or from another Hospice. Equally you may be a Doctor wishing to pursue a portfolio career. You need to be able to demonstrate the ability to work without supervision and experience of managing complex medical emergencies. In addition to your clinical skills, you will also need excellent interpersonal skills, empathy and sensitivity and the ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
With ever increasing numbers needing our services at key moments in their life we are exploring how we can meet that need. Providing regional leadership in research, education and training and collaboration with other care providers are key areas of expansion for our services. The post holder would have the opportunity to play a key part in the development of that vision with scope to develop leadership and networking skills in developing these organisational priorities.
In return we offer a competitive salary, the equivalent of 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays (calculated on a pro-rata basis for part-time roles), continuation in the NHS pension for current members (in line with the scheme rules), and the opportunity to work in a state of the art medical facility where everyone shares the desire to make a real difference every day.
If you want to be part of an exciting journey and are seeking a new challenge we would love to hear from you. Informal visits arranged by agreement. We are currently seeking up to three part-time posts of one to two days a week (to be agreed), and there is also a commitment to an overnight on-call and working one weekend in six.
Part-time – fixed term contract for 6/12 months, hours to be agreed but to include x3 overnight on calls during the week.
£50,373 - £78,759 (full-time equivalent), equivalent to NHS Speciality Doctor Scale MC46-06 - MC46-18 depending on experience)
