Play Team Volunteers

Come and volunteer with our wonderful Play Team. No one day is the same and you will be supporting our Play Team in their work alongside the children and young adults with life limiting and life threatening conditions. You may be asked to help put a colourful display together or to prepare and help with an activity for the children and siblings staying with us at Naomi House and the young adults at Jacksplace. Various hours are available throughout the week, for two hour play sessions. 

Experience required: 

Some experience of working with children is essential. Additional skills in art, music, sensory play and others are very welcome. 

Tasks involved:

  • Participating in play and activities with the children under supervision from other staff
  • Preparing art activities, mixing paints and  preparing materials
  • Cleaning the art room and play room ready for the next activities
  • Sorting games and toys and making sure they are clean
  • Interacting with children from birth, up to young adults in their 30s with complex clinical needs.

 

Training and Induction:

  • Induction to Naomi House along with the play, art and sensory rooms
  • Health and Safety issues around the House
  • Training on art materials and activities
  • Training on confidentiality, child protection, safeguarding e-learning, professional boundaries and appropriate conversation including how to respond to awkward questions.
