Carer

Closing date: 31 December 2023

Location: Naomi House & Jacksplace, Sutton Scotney, Winchester

Key Responsibilities:

Our Carers are well trained and well respected professionals who work as part of our multi-disciplinary team providing individualised care on a 24/7 basis. The role includes shift working.

Providing individualised care for children and young people with life limiting illnesses is a demanding role but one that brings no end of job satisfaction. Our Carers provide 24 hour support throughout the day, taking in all meal times, play and leisure activities, outings and trips whilst ensuring that each child or young person’s complex needs are catered for. As part of our Care team, working alongside trained nurses, our carers are pivotal in helping us ensure that a stay in our hospice is fun, relaxing, safe and supportive.

Previous experience of working with children or young people with special and complex clinical needs is desirable, but a positive and cheerful attitude is just as important. RQF (NVQ) training can be offered for the right applicants. We offer a comprehensive in house training programme for all staff to support individuals to achieve clinical competency.

Both full and part-time opportunities exist but all staff will be required to undertake regular weekend, day and night shifts in line with a variable monthly rota.

Successful applicants will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly Criminal Records Bureau).

Benefits include 28 days’ holiday, pension scheme (with the ability to remain in the NHS pension for current members), life assurance and a pleasant working environment. Driving licence essential due to rural location.
