To £35,000 (pro rata for part-time hours)

Key responsibilities:

As part of the hospice’s crucial family support team, you will lead this work providing a comprehensive psycho-social service to families in complex situations.

Our team of professional counsellors offers support to families from the point of referral to bereavement and beyond, and as the Family Support Counsellor, your support to a bereaved family will be tailored to their very specific needs. You will provide expert counselling services and establish and facilitate a range of support groups. Working with other colleagues in our clinical environment you will also manage a small team of trained volunteer counsellors.

With a recognised counselling or psychotherapy qualification and membership of BACP or UKCP, you need significant experience of working with bereavement, a good understanding of palliative care and experience of providing individual and group supervision.  In addition, the role demands excellent communication skills, adaptability, compassion and self-motivation, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

Working hours may vary, with the occasional out of hours commitment and part-time working (min 22.5 hours) can also be considered.
