Respite care gives families the chance to regroup, to relax and to rebalance family life. Naomi House & Jacksplace offers 24 hour respite care and a range of activities to suit the tastes and abilities of the children and young adults in our care.
Support at end of life is our priority at Naomi House & Jacksplace. We can support families with nursing care and support, symptom management and psychosocial support from our Family Support Team. As soon as we are aware that a child or young adult has reached the final stage of their journey, we can be involved in any way that best suits the family. Memory making is a very important part of this time, and our team will support families in making these last days very special according to their own particular wishes.
Our bereavement suites, the Butterfly suite in Naomi House and Ocean suite in Jacksplace, are bedrooms where the child/young person can stay after death, whilst the family make preparations for the funeral or final service of their choosing. The suites include a private family lounge and garden area, and a family bedroom is available so that the family can be supported both practically and emotionally during these initial days of adjustment.
Family support is offered to all our families for practical, emotional and spiritual support whenever it is needed: this includes parents, siblings and grandparents. Sibling support is planned for both bereaved brothers and sisters, and those who are living with a sibling with a life limiting or life threatening illness. This will include working alongside schools and colleges.
The Family Support Team offers many different forms of support according to need, including spiritual support, one-to-one counselling, support groups with other parents and families, play therapy, sibling groups and activity days/events throughout the year, including our annual remembering days.
