A little bit about me...

Sam Nicolson joined the Board of Naomi House in 2016 and is the Chair of the Finance, Risk & Audit Committee.

Sam is a chartered management accountant and has a long history of accounting positions which have seen her manage financial projects for global businesses such as IBM and Unisys.  At the same time she has always had a passion to give back and has supported her local community as a school governor and a pre-school treasurer in her time before joining the Naomi House Board.

Sam has always felt strongly about supporting children in particular, giving them the best opportunities and quality of life no matter what challenges they face and that is what first drew her to Naomi House, being able to use her skills to improve a fantastic organisation who deliver the very best in care and support to the children and young people that use their services.

Sam is currently Chief Operating Officer for the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity where she has worked since 2008 from the very inception of the charity.  Sam, a keen ’team player’, has made a significant difference at the RNRMC by using her financial skills to bring all the Charity’s funds and organisations together, under a Group finance department, showing the benefits of joint working to maximise efficiencies. She is working on further streamlining the RNRMC’s external business relationships to open people’s eyes to what they can achieve professionally within the organisation.

Portsmouth-born Sam is currently based in Scotland where she has temporarily moved to support her husband Lieutenant Gary Nicolson MBE who is serving in the Royal Navy.  They have 2 grown up daughters, one at Dundee University and one who is working for Autism Hampshire as a specialist trainer and a grandson who they thoroughly enjoy spoiling!

Sam and Gary enjoy walking in the countryside and spending time with their family as well as supporting many good causes.
