Supercars, Tiff Needell and Herbie – the Concorde Classics Car Show!

On Sunday 11th September, we were back at the 13th annual Concorde Classics Car Show at the Concorde Club in Eastleigh.

This year’s theme was ‘Movie Cars’ and it certainly didn’t disappoint! We were joined by a range of cars from movies and TV shows, including Herbie from the Herbie: The Love Bug films, a DeLorean from the Back to the Future films and the Trotters Independent Trading Reliant Robin from Only Fools and Horses.

We were also joined by a fantastic range of transports, ranging from Classics, such as a Ford MK2 Escort, to Supercars such as a Ferrari Roma, and some really rare and unique cars, like an Ex-Army Jeep and an Ascari Ecosse, which was number 17 of only 17 ever made in the world!

The wonderful Sporting Bears came along to the event, offering dream rides to the public, where people donate to our hospices in return for a 10-mile ride in their dream car. Each member of the Sporting Bears donates volunteers their time and efforts, meaning every penny raised goes directly to the charities the committee supports. The Sporting Bears went back and forth all day, covering hundreds of miles with their Dream Rides and raising £4,000 for Naomi House & Jacksplace in just one day!

And the Sporting Bears weren’t the only celebrities that joined us this year. British Racing Driver and television presenter, Tiff Needell, made a guest appearance at the event, enjoying the atmosphere and speaking with car enthusiasts and families alike.

The day was a success. With over 130 cars and 1,700 people attending, this year’s show raised over £15,000 for our hospices!

Suzie Simmons, Head of Regional and Corporate Fundraising at Naomi House & Jacksplace, said:

The Concorde Classic Car Show is a highlight of the year, it is such a wonderful event organised by a brilliant committee of volunteers who continue to support us every year. After a 3 year break, it was fantastic to see so many visitors attend the event and enjoy the beautiful cars on display.

Thank you to all of the Concorde Classic Car Show Committee for putting on a fantastic show – we can’t wait to see you again next year!
