A group of Event Management students from University of Winchester, recently hosted a sell-out bingo night, fundraising for Naomi House & Jacksplace. The groovy Through the Decades Bingo, took the attendees on a musical journey through time and fundraised over £400 in support of our hospices.

Naomi House & Jacksplace do such important work within the wider community and we wanted to help them to be able to provide the vital care and support they give for life limited and life threatened children and young adults.

The students organised a musical bingo night as a part of their final year coursework. Although they were nervous leading up to the event, they received regular support from Naomi House & Jacksplace's Fundraising Officer, Emma, who provided them with valuable advice on organising an event and fundraising.

Emma Hancock, Fundraising Officer at Naomi House & Jacksplace, said:

It was a pleasure to support the university students throughout the planning process and see it all come together so effortlessly on the night. They were able to collect valuable research from the attendees which we can use to deliver our future fundraising plans, so thank you! We were able to give the group some great insight into the care and support we provide for our children, young adults and their families. This allowed the girls to fully understand the impact that their efforts will make at Naomi House & Jacksplace.

During the evening, there were 3 rounds of music bingo each from a different genre or decade. The attendees had bingo cards to cross off songs when they were played, and everyone enjoyed a raffle.

We sold out the event and the atmosphere was amazing! Everyone was on such a buzz and chatting and singing away the whole evening. The most memorable moment of the evening was when the classic ‘Sweet Caroline’ came on and everyone was dancing and singing together, and of course Emma's speech reminding us all why we were there.

It was so rewarding seeing everyone coming together for such a good cause and having fun in the process. From the event we raised £470 for Naomi House & Jacksplace. If other students are thinking about supporting a charitable cause, I'd say "Just go for it!". Supporting a good cause in any way that you can is so rewarding, and you learn so much from putting on an event like this. There are so many people out there to help you and the team from Naomi House & Jacksplace offered so much support throughout the planning and execution process of our event.
