Cyclists Tour the Worthys for Naomi & Jack

In April 2023, the Tour of the Worthys took place in Hampshire’s beautiful countryside. This is one of three cycle events known as ‘The Hampshire Tour Series’, setup by Odiham Cycling Club and ‘1st Gear Cycles’ bike shop in Alton. These events are setup by cyclists, for cyclists, and they also raise vital funds and awareness for Naomi House & Jacksplace.

The Tour of the Worthys route started at Alresford Rugby Club and saw cyclists completing a 30 or 50 mile route around the surrounding areas of Kings Worthy and Martyr Worthy, challenging the toughest of cyclists with its rolling hills. All monies raised from this event and the rest of the Hampshire Tour Series will be donated to Naomi House & Jacksplace. These events have raised over a phenomenal £15,000 for our hospices to date.

Hampshire Tour Series Event Organiser, Liam, said:

The Tour of the Worthys is a firm favourite event of ours, and this year didn’t disappoint. It was great to see so many local and further afield riders of all abilities join us. The feedback was really positive, and we raised some fantastic awareness of the rest of the Hampshire Tour Series events and of Naomi House & Jacksplace. We started these events to show off the local countryside we have in Hampshire and to support the local communities. It’s really important to us to raise both money and awareness for crucial hospices like Naomi House & Jacksplace.

The Hampshire Tour Series was set up back in 2014 by members of Odiham Cycling Club & 1st Gear Cycles, Alton. Previously known to locals as the ‘Tour of the Candovers’, Hampshire Tour Series started with its flagship fundraiser sportive in Odiham and since then has grown year after year, eventually expanding in 2018 to include the Tour of the Worthys and Tour of the Meons events.

Tash Haji, Senior Fundraiser at Naomi House and Jacksplace, said:

Hampshire Tour Series is such a fantastic series of events, and it was great to finally see one in action! Everyone involved had such a great time and it was a truly successful day. We are forever grateful for the continued support of our local community, as we truly could not support our children, young adults and their families without supporters like this. Thank you so much to everyone involved and we looked forward to your forthcoming events!
