Clarendon Way Walk returns with a sustainable twist!

The Clarendon Way Walk returns for its 18th year to support seriously ill children and young adults across central Southern England. The annual picturesque walk takes participants cross country from Winchester to Salisbury with a range of distances to suit all abilities and ages.

This year, as a part of our mission and values, we are increasing our efforts to make the events more sustainable to lower our carbon footprint and to reduce our impact on the planet. We are excited to share that this year we will be re-using past stock of the Clarendon Way Walk t-shirts, with the designs ranging from 2020-2023. Each participant will receive a t-shirt, which is drawn at random, to create a sea of colours on the day.

Further to this, we are encouraging all participants to bring their own water bottles to minimise our plastic waste. There will be water refill points throughout the route, which will give everyone an opportunity to refill their reusable bottles.

Don’t miss out on your chance to become part of a sustainable change and take part in the Clarendon Way Walk on 2nd June.

You can walk either the Classic (26 miles), Half Way (12 miles) or Mini (5 miles) routes. No matter your ability there is a walk that will suit you with the Classic being the most challenging, to the Mini, being suitable for children or those looking for a shorter walk. The fundraising team will support you from the moment you sign up till after the event. You will get access to a dedicated Facebook group where we will share the best fundraising and training tips for the day.

Just like every year, we are super excited for Clarendon Way Walk and to meet so many people who go above and beyond to support our hospices. It’s such a lovely day to make memories and spend quality time with friends and family. To reduce our impact on the planet, this year we are re-using our Clarendon Way Walk t-shirts from past years in order to commit to our sustainability goals.

Every year, we walk away from the experience having made new friends and memories that will last us a lifetime. And we are grateful for every participant that helps us raise vital funds to help continue delivering compassionate care for life limited and life threatened children and young adults.

The day itself was fabulous – the camaraderie, pitstops, beautiful scenery, music, photobooths, encouragement from the marshals; seeing Winchester Cathedral put a spring in my step, the atmosphere at the finish was amazing, people clapping and cheering, and the ice-cream at the finish line was just as rewarding as my medal but didn’t last as long!
