Christmas magic with the Gooderham family

NH Santa Visit 2018 - 30

Felicity has been visiting Naomi House for several years now with her mum, Sarah, dad, Liam, and older brother, Edward.

Sarah shared with us what coming to Naomi House means to their family, and about the magical experience of visiting the hospice at Christmastime.

Sarah said:

“We have been visiting Naomi House for the past few years. One of our first and most favourite memories was when we were able to have our first swim together as a family of four. Edward loved being able to swim with his sister; using squirting toys to squirt her hands and feet before attacking his dad!

"The laughter will forever be in my memory."

“We particularly like visiting Naomi House at Christmastime as it is such a magical experience. There are lights everywhere, festive activities and Santa even flew in by helicopter before Felicity and Edward were able to visit him in his grotto!

“Felicity is visually impaired and has lots of seizures every day. Because of this, she uses her other senses more. She loves lights and anything that sparkles so Christmas is a lovely exciting time for her. Felicity loved it when Santa came to Naomi House via helicopter, as she could feel the wind on her face when the helicopter got closer and the loud noise of it landing. Edward was also very excited to see Santa waving out of his helicopter window – he was jumping up and down shouting and waving at him!

“Being able to go to Naomi House enables us to have a break, knowing Felicity will be well looked after. It also means we can have some one-on-one quality time with Felicity’s brother, Edward, who is 6 years old. He loves helping us care for Felicity. They have an amazing bond with each other and Edward makes sure Felicity is involved with our everyday life.

"He deserves to have the opportunity to be a child and enjoy the excitement of Christmas.”
