Employees from DEKRA, corporate partner and friends to Naomi House & Jacksplace, recently braved sweltering temperatures on their seventh annual bike ride for our charity.

25 riders from DEKRA completed the 100km bike ride around the entirety of the Isle of Wight in one of this year’s heat waves. It was an epic effort by all involved, raising an amazing £6,200 for our hospices.

The team from DEKRA pledged to raise funds every year since 2017 for Naomi House & Jacksplace, in memory of Phelan. Phelan Jordan, otherwise known by family and friends as the ‘Blue Ninja’, is the son of former Dekra employee, George Jordan.

George Jordan, Phelan's Father, said:

Naomi House opened their arms to us when Phelan was approaching the end of his journey. They provided bereavement support by hosting and helping us with all the preparations for the funeral. During that time, Phelan’s body was laid in their Butterfly Room to enable loved ones to see him and pay their last respects. And if that wasn’t enough, Naomi House continued to support us to overcome the sadness and regrets which came with our loss. The hospice is also supporting many other children and their families too. We don’t know what tomorrow shall bring to our families and friends. Together we can contribute to this outstanding cause.

Dr Stephen Rowe, Blue Ninja Leader and Managing Director at DEKRA, said:

We had another great day on our seventh annual Isle of Wight Blue Ninja Challenge, raising essential funds for the incredible Naomi House & Jacksplace. 25 riders battled through some sweltering temperatures to complete the challenge. It’s always an unforgettable day and this year was no exception. The support we had from so many donors was overwhelming as we raised a record-breaking amount for our favourite charity that is very close to our hearts.

Ella Clayton, Senior Fundraiser at Naomi House & Jacksplace, said:

We are in awe of DEKRA and their dedication and support to our charity. We’re hugely grateful for all the work and planning that takes place to make events like this happen. The amount raised by the Blue Ninjas is absolutely incredible, all of which will help us to support local families that need us most. The Blue Ninjas continue to do Phelan and his family proud.
