Key Responsibilities:

Make a real difference to the lives of local life limited children, young adults and their families as a Breakfast and Bedtime Volunteer!

We're looking for volunteers to support our staff in the mornings and at tea time.

Tasks include:

  • Helping get a child or young adult up and out of bed
  • Doing an activity with a child or young adult whilst others are being supported in getting up
  • Helping a child or young adult get into bed
  • Supporting children or young adults with their breakfast/dinner

This is a great role for anyone who is interested in a role in care or nursing, or with children with additional needs.

You will need to be able to attend an initial training session, which will then be followed by ongoing training and support sessions throughout the year. This role needs volunteers that can commit to a longer amount of time due to the training that goes into it - ideally on a weekly or fortnightly basis. We need Breakfast Volunteers from 8am - 11am and Bedtime Volunteers from 6pm - 9pm.

The ideal volunteer will need to be physically fit and be able to travel to the hospices either by car or public transport (bearing in mind that buses aren't that regular) at fairly unsociable hours.

Experience of working with children is preferred.
