On Sunday 22 June, an incredible 625 runners laced up their trainers and took to the runway at Solent Airport for our third annual Solent Airport 5k.
This unique 5k fundraiser, which has now become a firm favourite in our calendar, which completely sold out this year! With its flat, straight, and smooth surface, the airport runway offered the perfect track for runners of all abilities to chase their personal bests.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part as we have now raised over £11k for our hospices. Every pound raised helps us continue providing vital care and support to children, young adults, and families.
We were honoured to welcome the Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Mrs Louise Clubley, and her husband, Mr Jonathan Clubley, who joined us to cheer on our runners and hand out their well-deserved medals.
We came to support the Solent Airport 5k as Ezra is a service user of Naomi House. Ezra has complex medical needs, so we go to the hospice for respite visits.
It has been lovely to be part of this event and see people out raising money for the hospices. Gabi blew the horn to start the race then both children clapped the runners over the line before giving them their medals. They had a fantastic morning and are leaving smiling.
Naomi House means so much to us as a family as I know my children will be cared for by amazing people. I can be myself whilst there and Gabi even says Naomi House is better than Peppa Pig World!
This year’s Solent Airport 5k was made even more special by the presence and participation of several of our families.
Mum Ruth, joined by her children Gabi and Ezra, showed their support by starting the race and awarding medals to the runners after finishing the course.
Luke, who ran the London Marathon for us earlier this year, took on the 5k race while his wife and daughter sold raffle tickets to help raise vital funds.
"We’ve chosen to support the Solent 5K because it brings together a community of people striving toward personal goals while raising funds for an incredible cause.
Naomi House & Jacksplace is a charity that’s very close to our hearts. After the passing of our beautiful boy, Rocky, in 2023. Their bereavement team surrounded us with compassion and care during the most difficult time of our lives. Their support hasn’t ended there — they continue to walk beside us, offering comfort whenever we need it.
Fundraising for Naomi House & Jacksplace is so important because their work has a life-changing impact on families like ours. Every donation helps ensure they can continue offering the same level of love, care, and support to others who need it — both in times of unimaginable loss and throughout the journey that follows."
Luke, Rocky's dad
Another family currently supported by Naomi House, came to show their appreciation and encouragement as their daughter’s teachers took on the 5k run. An incredible example of how local communities come together to support our families.
All of their presence on the day reminded the runners just how much of a difference their support at the Solent Airport 5k makes.
For the third successful year, Solent Airport had the pleasure to be able to support the annual Airport 5k run. Year after year it has proven to be a very popular event all in aid of Naomi House & Jacksplace. Each year it grows with more participants and provides a great opportunity to raise support for such a worthwhile charity. All the team at Solent Airport very much look forward to welcoming the team back in 2026 and continuing to help grow the Solent Airport 5K run.”
Additionally, this year the race is registered with UK Athletics which makes it one of the largest 5k races in the area.
We have charity places available for the TCS London Marathon 2026. Run for Naomi House & Jacksplace and make every one of those 26 miles count.
