48 hikers summit Snowdon for Naomi House & Jacksplace

Cascading mountains washed with a green pasture and a lake flowing through the valley

This July, a group of 48 hikers got together to summit Yr Wyddfa, the highest mountain in Wales, to support Naomi House & Jacksplace. Together they braved 1,085 meters to raise vital funds for our hospices.

The participants gathered on an early Saturday morning to start the day with a brief from the experienced guides at SVL Adventures. The atmosphere in the room was exciting, and everyone was full of anticipation as they prepared for the day. After a journey to the start point with the minibus, our determined hikers set off at 2 am, with their headtorches on as they went into the dark.

Although the sunrise was hidden from view at the summit, on their way down the mountain, the hikers experienced breathtaking views of Yr Wddfa (Snowdonia) as the clouds parted way to the magical scenery. Throughout the day, connections were made as the group got to know each other.

It was great, everyone was getting on and having a chat. It was the normal great team building experience provided by your events.

It’s been amazing. It's nice to see everyone encourage each other. It was very challenging but we do these things because it’s for a good cause. Having Naomi House & Jacksplace as our charity partner and participating in these challenges brings us closer together as a team – so thank you for letting us do mad things like climb mountains!

An energetic duo, Sarah and Hannah, braved the hike to support our hospices but also wanted to take on a personal challenge.

Sarah, said:

I did Snowdon last year so I knew what to expect. But it is still challenging even when you know what’s coming. It’s such an achievement when you get to the top. I work with young children with special needs, and some of the children I’ve worked with have been supported by Naomi House, so that’s why I took part.

I love a fitness challenge so I’ve always wanted to climb Snowdon. When Sarah suggested that we participate, I thought, why not combine my passions whilst raising money for charity.

Well done and thank you to everyone who took on this massive challenge for Naomi House & Jacksplace! We hope the experience was one for the books and that you are feeling accomplished. Not only for reaching the summit but for also for making a huge difference to the families we support. With your efforts you have raised an incredible £20,000 to fund specialist nursing care for life limited and life threatened children and young adults.
