We recently spoke to a group of young adults that regularly visit Jacksplace. They shared with us what being able to swim in the hydrotherapy pool means to them.

They said:

I can feel the benefit for weeks after one session in the hydrotherapy pool at Jacksplace

— Kate

We can take a dip in the hydrotherapy pool at Jacksplace. In the pool, they have music, sensory lights, a disco ball and all of the equipment we need to have a swim. It can be a relaxing float in the pool, or a pool party with friends! The staff are highly trained to care for us in the water.

When you used to swim independently and then you lose control, swimming can be scary. I have to put my faith in the staff and trust that they’re able to take care of me in the water

— Josh

The weightlessness in the hydrotherapy pool hugely relieves muscle pressure and the water gives us some freedom. We can also have physiotherapy in the pool and get some exercise, if needed.

The hydrotherapy pool is great for me as I can actually walk in the water. I have diabetes so the exercise is good for me.

— Ebony

I have muscle pain all the time – in my wheelchair, in bed, everywhere. Except for when I’m in the hydrotherapy pool. It is such a relief to float in the water and enjoy half an hour with no muscle pain.

— Josh

Beyond the physical benefits of the water, the hydrotherapy pool at Jacksplace is a place where friendships blossom. It’s more than just a pool; it’s a welcoming environment where young adults can connect, share stories, and build a strong support network.
