jacksplace@naomihouse is named after businessman Jack Witham whose generous bequest helped turn the dream about a hospice for young people into a reality.
Jack was born in Aden but returned with his family to his parent's home town of Totton when he was just a few months old. He spent most of his life in Southampton where he was a well known surveyor and business man.
Mr Witham was a life-long Southampton FC (Saints) supporter. His other great passion was classical music. Not only would he listen to the classics from the moment he got up he was also a keen supporter of many musical and operatic societies, hardly ever missing local productions.
He had a very modest lifestyle and friends describe him as a very kind and caring person. They say he would be delighted that his legacy was being used for such a worthy project.
Mr Witham died on 14 November 2004 - just one day before his 80th birthday.
