All the children that visit Naomi House have life limiting conditions. They can spend their last days at Naomi House if that is what they and their families choose. The surroundings and support at Naomi House are designed to give meaningful support to a family at the time of a childs death.
"The first thing to try and understand is that to lose a child is probably the most devastating thing that could ever happen to you. Normal rules do not apply. There will be few parents who would not have given their own lives willingly to help save their child during those hours of need, and most other experiences we are ever likely to face as parents and adults pale into insignificance when compared."
For a child who has died, there is a special bedroom called the Butterfly Suite, where they can be laid to rest for several days. This allows the family to say their farewells and to make all the arrangements, with support from Naomi House nurses and carers.
"A place to give a precious child a holiday where you know they will have a good time and be well looked after…and when the time comes they can have one last time in the Butterfly suite and have a wonderful and loving goodbye. Words can’t thank you enough."
"Thank you for bringing a world of new adventures, fun laughter and joy to our daughter's short life. Thank you for the respite, the essential relief to infuse a bit more strength to keep going. Thank you for the peace, loving support and the simplicity of time to just "be" at the end, time to say goodbye in a way that was right for us."
