Volunteering roles

Naomi House relies on the help of volutneers to make a welcoming and freindly place to visit.

Here is a quick list of possibilities, but the opportunities are endless.  So why not take a look at our current list of priority roles if you would like to know more.

Receptionists

If you enjoy meeting new people, feel comfortable answering the phone and have basic computer skills - this is the role for you!  You will be the first point of contact for anyone coming to the hospice or phoning to speak to our team.

You will have the opportunity to play a supporting role to our adminstrators who often need a hand with day to day office support like helping with the daily post and taking delivery of items.

You will receive training about how to use the phone system and other office procedures.

Kitchen Assistants

Why not consider joining our busy kitchen team who prepare meals for the children and families who are visiting.  You will be involved in preparing lunch and evening meals as well as the occasional tea party and fun events that we hold for our families.  It's the hub of the house and always lively, our families always enjoy mealtimes and the chance to get together.  You will probably spend a lot of time on your feet as you prepare the meals and help to lay tables and clear away.  This can sometimes mean lifting equipment and boxes of goods.

If this appeals to you you can choose from a variety of days and times to suit your own committments.

Gardeners

The children and young people love to be in the garden where they have space to move around freely.  Families often get together over a cup of coffee to enjoy the surroundings.  These lovely gardens would not be possible woithout our team of keen gardners.  If you enjoy being outside and know the difference between your azeleas and your daisies you will feel very at home.

From planting up the spring bulbs to getting ready for showing the gardens off at Open Days in the Autumn there is plenty going on.  If you would like to join our team get in touch today!

Housekeeping

A visit to Naomi House is a specail break for families and we try our best to make sure we give them a big welcome.  Housekeeping play a very important part in that.  From getting the childrens rooms ready, to ensuring that the parents accommodation is spic and span, it all makes a difference to every one of them.
