Store Wars!

The Force” was certainly with the staff from Le Creuset when they competed in the very first Naomi House “Store Wars” challenge on Friday June 11th.

Le Creuset staff at our Fareham shop

Four teams, consisting of Le Creuset’s Head Office and National Sales staff, each took over one of our charity shops in an “Apprentice” style challenge to see who could put on the largest increase over their sales target. The four shops chosen were Andover, Eastleigh, Winchester and Fareham and each shop set about their task with a vivid imagination, massive enthusiasm and fierce competition.

Martin sat in our Andover shop window all day - it must have worked because they won!

The World Cup featured strongly in the activities organised for the day with the Fareham team dressing up in the national costume of some of the participating countries while Eastleigh had a strong “England” themed window and tempted customers with special football cakes. Andover’s window caused the most interest with one of their team spending the day sitting in it, issuing red and yellow cards to passers by, whilst Winchester deliberately created a football free zone but scored well with two fifteen minute “flash sales”  when everything was sold for £1.

The results were announced at jacksplace on the following Monday after the teams had been given a tour of the new unit – and what spectacular results they were!  The four shops took almost £4,000 – beating their combined target by almost 200%, with Andover running out clear winners with an increase of 280%.

Le Creuset had already agreed to match whatever was taken by the four shops but made an announcement of their own once the results were known. They had enjoyed themselves so much that they generously increased their contribution to £6,000 bringing the total for the day to a magnificent £10,000.

The teams are raring for a rematch next year, but in the meantime we have a very successful template for any other organisations looking for a fun and unusual way to support the charity.
