Kids get creative for Children's Hospice Week

This morning the children visiting Naomi House got stuck in to an arts ‘n’ crafts session to kick start the celebrations for Children’s Hospice Week, which will take place in May. The children and staff at Naomi House all put their creative caps on and used glitter, ribbons, paint, and feathers to help design “marvellous masks” for the children’s superheroes, fitting for the “be a hero theme” of children’s hospice week.
Being half term there is a very busy week of games and activities planned at Naomi House and what better way to kick them off than by getting messy for Children’s Hospice Week. Many of the children came up with some great ideas of who they should make a superhero mask for, a common theme being their Mum’s and Dad’s or their carer’s at Naomi House. Some fantastic mask designs were also made for favourite cartoons and celebrities, such as Bart Simpson and a Wrestling star.
Lisa Hannington is a member of the play team at Naomi House and helped to organise the session today. She said, “We all had great fun this morning, all the kid’s produced some very impressive designs and definitely enjoyed making a mess!” She also added, “It’s been a great way for us to get the celebrations started for Children’s hospice week here at Naomi House and I am sure we will have several more activities leading up to it”.
The week has been organised by Children’s Hospices UK, commonly known as CHUK of whom Holly Willoughby is a patron. Speaking of the week she said, “Just like superheroes, children's hospices are there for people when they need them most. Be a hero and fundraise for your local hospice”.
Children’s hospice week will celebrate hospices like Naomi House throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland and will be commencing the 14th of May.
