We recognise that the journey to adulthood itself can be uncertain and because of illness young people and their families can be faced with many challenges. Young people have their own unique needs that are different to children. Focused support through this period of transition from children's to adult services is essential.
In recognition of this the Wessex Children's Hospice Trust has opened jacksplace where you will be cared for by experienced skilled staff who have time to listen to your concerns and worries. You will be able to tell staff how you like your care delivered and can also choose some well deserved treats such as a long soak in the bath, a late night film and pizza or a lazy lie in the following day.
You will be able to use your mobile and laptop. our computers allow access to sites such as facebook so you can keep in touch with your mates.
You will also have the opportunity to join in group chats and tell us what you do and don't like about the hospice, and what we should do in the future.
You can watch films, take part in media workshops and have curry nights. Play Board games, visit the cinema, go shopping and even visit the local pub!
You will have your own private bedroom when you stay at jacksplace. Each room has its own TV, games console and DVD player. We have kitchen staff who pride themselves in providing really tasty food to cater for all different and varied tastes from curry dishes to American style dinners.
