Hydrotherapy
Children and staff have fun in group hydrotherapy session
Naomi House offers a variety of different respite activities, one of the most popular being Hydrotherapy. jacksplace and Naomi House boast fantastic Hydrotherapy facilities providing children and young adults with an opportunity to mess about and have fun or simply relax in a safe and controlled environment.
Both Naomi House and jacksplace hydrotherapy pools are fully equipped with disco lighting, sensory lights and speakers for music. This makes for a stimulating experience for any child or young adult no matter their ability.
Hydrotherapy is well known for being extremely beneficial for health however at Naomi House it can be beneficial in more ways than one. Many of those who visit Naomi House would not be able to go to public swimming baths without having the care and assistance that they require. Hydrotherapy at Naomi House and jacksplace is facilitated by carers and allows families to just enjoy the experience in a worry-free environment. It is often very social experience and for some children and young adults who may be constrained to a wheelchair, using a hydrotherapy pool can give them an opportunity to experience buoyancy and encourage movement.
Both of the hydrotherapy pools in Naomi House and jacksplace have a tracking hoist to help the children and young adults to get in and out. The hoist is a huge asset to the hydrotherapy pools making them easily accessible to any individual.
Lisa Hannington is a member of the play team in Naomi House. Speaking about Hydrotherapy sessions she said, “Hydrotherapy allows the whole family to enjoy swimming in safe surroundings, brothers and sisters included, which is something they may not be able to do outside of the hospice.”
