How your support helps

Your support makes an enormous difference to the lives of the children, young people and families that Naomi House supports. Here’s how:

A gift of £2,000 could ensure that our two mini-buses (which we use to take the children on outings to places such as Thruxton racing circuit, tea at Lainston House, and wheel chair ice- skating) are maintained and kept on the road for a year

A gift of £2,000 could provide and maintain the nurse call system provided to every nurse in Naomi House to ensure everyone caring for children at the hospice can communicate with other care colleagues and request extra help when they need it.

A gift of £6,000 could fund our playroom for a month. The playroom takes on many guises and lets children of all ages express themselves and their imagination through play – whether that’s via dressing up, playing in the ball pool, singing karaoke, playing on games consoles, or joining in on a film night. A family outing to the cinema is often not an option for families who use Naomi House.

A gift of £15,000 could pay for one of our respite rooms, and the staff required to care for a child in that room, for a month. Each bedroom is made to feel like home and is equipped with a special bed or cot and hoists to ensure that the room is a safe haven for a child, who may be feeling very poorly, to stay in bed, watch their favourite films and TV programmes, listen to music, cuddle a favourite toy and share special times with their parents, brothers and sisters.

A gift of 17,000 could fund the multi-sensory room which stimulates the senses – vision, touch, sound, smell. The soft surface room contains special equipment to help a child to relax and enjoy a variety of sensations, from the warm water bed, to multi-coloured bubble cylinders, fibre optic and special-effect lighting and music. The whole room is designed to help children to wind down, have a story read to them or just chill and enjoy being out of the wheelchair for a while.

A gift of £35,000 could fund our hydrotherapy pool for a year. The pool is often the only opportunity for some of the children visiting Naomi House to enjoy a swim with their families or undergo physiotherapy without the drawback of weight bearing. Many of the children have physical disabilities and the pool is ideal for those with muscle conditions, stiff joints and limited movement as the warm water is relaxing and helps alleviate pressure and relieve pain.
