Hydrotherapy suite refurbishment
The work of Naomi House does not stand still; we are always seeking out new, effective ways of providing support to children and young people with life-limiting conditions.
Medical advances mean that children with life-limiting conditions are now living to become young adults, and more families than ever before are choosing to receive care and support in their own homes.
Following a review, two key development areas were identified:
- The opportunity to develop a community outreach service to bring our current care provision into the homes of life-limited children and young people
- The need to build a dedicated hospice to meet the specific needs of adolescents.
As a result Naomi House has piloted a community service with positive results, and plan to develop this service further in the future. We have also built a new unit for young people, called jacksplace that provides teenagers and young adults with an environment that provides privacy, dignity and independence.
The development of these projects is taking place alongside our regular programme of refurbishment and redecoration. Due to the age of Naomi House, and advancements in technology, we annually identify a number of projects and items of equipment in need of repair or replacement that will help to maintain the hospice.
Donations from charitable trusts and foundations have enabled us to:
- build jacksplace
- refurbish the hydrotherapy suite at Naomi House
- improve the lighting within the hospice
- upgrade the end of life suite at Naomi House
- re-decorate and re-carpet the children’s bedrooms.
