Employee how to guide

Staff at Sainsbury's not only raise money for Naomi Ho

Staff at Sainsbury's raise money for Naomi House

If you would like to make regular tax-free donations to Naomi House simply read the information below and complete a donation form.

What is Payroll Giving?

Payroll Giving is one of the easiest, most tax efficient ways of making a regular donation to help the hospice and the life-limited children, young people and families that visit Naomi House for respite breaks, end of life care and bereavement support.

Donations come from your gross salary (before tax is deducted) this means that your donation receives immediate tax relief of up to £4 for every £10 donated. The table below shows what that means in terms of increasing the size of your donations without it costing you any extra. Giving through your salary each month can really add up to making a big difference to Naomi House:

Employee pledge to Naomi House The amount you pay as a standard rate taxpayer (20%) The amount you pay as a higher rate taxpayer (40%)
£5.00 £4.00 £3.00
£8.00 £6.40 £4.80
£10.00 £8.00 £6.00
£15.00 £12.00 £9.00
£20.00 £16.00 £12.00

What difference will your donation make?
Your Payroll Giving donation will help to make a short life special by supporting the care provided by Naomi House children’s hospice to children and young people from across Wessex.

  • £5 – could pay for a fun and noisy morning in the music room
  • £10 – would support the cost of an hour of fun in the playroom, from dressing up to karaoke!
  • £25 – pays for a special bedroom for a child nearing the end of life for one hour
  • £50 – would run our sensory room for a day, enabling children and young people from across our region to enjoy having their senses stimulated
  • £100 – is how much it costs to run our hydrotherapy pool for a day where children and young people with physical disabilities can receive therapy and swim with their family

How much should I give?
This is your personal decision. You can give as much or as little as you like.

How do I join the scheme?
Just complete and return the application form and your Payroll Department will do the rest! Send a copy to Naomi House so that we know of your intention.

How can I find out if my employer offers Payroll Giving?
Ask your Payroll Department, if they do not offer a scheme, suggest they start one - it is easy and inexpensive to run. For further information, they can contact us or visit the information for employer’s section. If your employer does offer a scheme, remember to ask if they will match your donation.

Can I stop giving?
Yes. If your circumstances change and you no longer want to donate in this way, inform your Payroll Department that you want the payments to cease.

Can I change the amount I give?
Yes, although to keep administration costs down your employer may limit the number of times you can change the amount of your donation to once or twice a year. Just visit your Payroll Department to make your change.

Will I get unwanted mail asking for more money?
We will write to you to thank you for your donation and we will also send you our newsletter, Naomi House News. The information you provide is protected under the Data Protection Act and can only be used for the purpose that it was given.
