Daryl and Daniel visit jacksplace
When we are out we have a great time because the guys make sure we do all the things we can’t usually do. Nothing is off limits – they let us decide what we can and can’t do, but we know they will keep us safe. We can be a bit of a handful! We love fast cars, motor racing and rock concerts and we do all those things when we are at Naomi House. We even made a video for myspace, all about jacksplace, when Andy Burrows came here. Then we went to meet him at the Razorlight concert in Portsmouth. It was wicked! On our last visit it was amazing – I got to ride in a Ferrari and an Audi TT!
We like being around other young people who have similar needs to us – it means that we can all do things together, meet our friends and hang out. That’s whyjacksplace is so cool. Stuff, like the heating controls and bathroom equipment in the rooms, means we can do loads of things for ourselves, and we aren’t treated like kids.
When we stay at jacksplace we can do grown up activities and meet up with friends. One of the most enjoyable times like that was the Halloween Party in the autumn. Lots of our friends came along, in fancy dress, and enjoyed a great evening.
Staying at jacksplace is not just about having fun. We know that the people there understand when we have a bad day; they take time to listen to us and try to help us get through more difficult times. Daniel and I both have to visit it hospital quite a bit, because of our conditions, and we get down about that because we aren’t together. When this happens we sometimes have a visit to jacksplace to help us recover. Everyone at the hospice cheers us up and makes us feel a lot better.
