Naomi House offers support in the home
Naomi House at Home service is a team of experienced registered nurses offering a service to children and young people, up to 18 years of age, with a life limiting or life threatening illness out in their own homes.
We are able to offer emergency or crisis respite in circumstances where an unexpected or unplanned event has resulted in the child's family needing additional nursing support. We may also be able to provide some hours for step down care if the child or young adult has been an inpatient in hospital and nursing support is required on discharge.
Periods of care can be provided between the hours of 08.00 and 18.00hrs in four hour blocks. Families can receive a maximum of 24hours respite for each problem within a two week period. Due to the large geographical area that we support, for practical reasons, we have restricted the home visits to within approximately 30 miles of Naomi House at this time.
If the child or young person is nearing the end of their life care can be arranged with the family and community nursing team involved to enable the child or young person to stay at home for their final days if they wish. For end of life care we aim to offer more flexible hours, including some night cover where possible.
