The difference a gift in your will could make to Naomi House
The Butterfly Suite
The butterfly is the symbol of the children’s hospice movement because it is a beautiful creature, but has a short lifespan.
At Naomi House the Butterfly Suite comprises of a child’s bedroom and an adjoining private sitting area and entrance specifically designed for families to use when their child has died. The child can stay in the bedroom for up to two weeks and family members and friends can either stay, or visit freely while funeral arrangements are being made.
Recently, Naomi House received a gift in a will and further gifts in memory of Alan Brice from Andover, Hampshire. These very special donations helped us to completely refurbish the Butterfly Suite. Families had informed us that noise vibrations from the adjoining hydrotherapy pool were quite intrusive, in an area which needs to be peaceful and tranquil. We were able to move the pool equipment, and completely redecorate and re-carpet the Butterfly Suite. New furniture and soft furnishings were chosen and patio doors were installed which open directly onto a private memory garden for bereaved families to use.
Thanks to Alan’s legacy and the kind donations in his memory from his family and friends, every family that has to face the tragedy of losing a child can at least deal with those first few difficult days in a private, comfortable, peaceful environment while they grieve.
