Last year staff at Vodafone UK pulled out all the stops to raise an astounding £53,000. This amount could have helped support the running costs of a respite bedroom, a safe haven for a child who is feeling poorly to stay in bed, watch their favourite cartoon or cuddle their favourite toy.
The activities of the Vodafone UK team to raise this sum have ranged from raffles to making and selling jam; Christmas card and clothes sales, dress down days, participating in running events; hosting a golf day; donations in lieu of Christmas cards and birthday gifts.
One major fundraiser which has been held for the last three years is the Supply Chain Management team’s annual slot car grand prix, run in partnership with the British Slot Car Racing Association. The event transported Vodafone UK staff and suppliers back to their childhoods, along with some of the young people from Naomi House. Reading FC skipper, Graeme Murty, was also among the young at heart enjoying ‘every little boy’s dream’ on a huge eight lane track set up in Vodafone HQ’s pavilion.
It is not only money that the teams at Vodafone UK have provided to Naomi House they have also given their valuable time volunteering at fundraising events like the annual Highclere Castle Easter Egg Hunt.
