Vodafone Store Wars Success
Vodafone talent helps with our fundraising
Talented young people on the Vodafone Graduate programme took time out recently to raise money for Naomi House children's hospice.
In an 'Apprentice'-style challenge, 50 Vodafone graduates took over seven of Naomi House's charity shops across the region to see how much money they could raise in just one day.
Each team was challenged to raise as much for Naomi House as they could in the shop during the day, as well as setting up additional fundraising initiatives to help maximise their takings for the day.
Teams used their influencing skills and contacts to enable them to do a wide variety of activites including a collection at Waterloo underground station, a tombola to win some great prizes including a Lewis Hamilton item, sponsored static bike ride, had a magician conjuring away £5 notes, and had some amazing homemade cakes to sell too!
Nicola Fitzgerald, who heads the Vodafone Graduate programme, said: "Our graduates can expect a thorough grounding in all aspects of our business and the Naomi House event has enhanced their business planning skills, team builling and, importantly, putting something back into the local community. We're really impressed with what they've achieved."
The teams raised over £10,000 manning the tills and using their entrepreneurial spirit to maximise the day's takings, which will be matched by the Vodafone Foundation.
Martin Efford, Retail Manager said "This was an amazing achievement by the Vodafone graduates and far exceeded my expectations. I was so impressed by the enthusiasm and creativity of all the teams and my shop managers had nothing but praise for them - so much so that they want to know when they are going back!"
