Mums on the Run to walk the Clarendon Way Walk
The ladies from Tesco stores in Southampton and Eastleigh have been running as a team for a couple of years now and together they raised just under £5,000 last year for local charities. This is the second time they will be taking part in the historic Clarendon Way Walk event and raising much needed funds for Naomi House.
Rachel, mum of five said: ’Only three of us did the walk last year but we enjoyed it so much and found it so well organised that this year I think at last count there was about eight of us!’
‘Mums On The Run’ will be walking with over six hundred other fundraisers between the historical Cathedral towns. It will be a long day for these ladies, starting at 8am and expecting to take about nine hours. Their hard work is rewarded by their employer, Tesco, who have agreed to top up 20% of whatever ‘Mums On The Run’ raise. The group continue to prove that, “normal working mums can make a big difference to the lives of others”, something that Rachel said after the group started running together.
If you would like to take part in the sponsored walk, there is still plenty of time to register. Fundraisers will receive a special participant t-shirt, refreshments throughout the day and a medal upon completing the walk.
The sponsorship money raised will be invaluable to the hospice as it will help afford the essential care for local, life-limited children and their families that visit Naomi House and jacksplace.
