Support Grandma's Tricks and Naomi House this Christmas

Grandma's Tricks

Grandma's Tricks

A storytelling grandmother from Lymington is asking for help to reach her £2000 fundraising target for Naomi House children’s hospice this Christmas.

Wend Lewis, who lives in Keyhaven, has so far raised £1500 for Naomi House through sales of Grandma’s Tricks, her CD of stories and poems based around traditional nursery rhymes.

She worked on the CD for two years, narrating and adapting the stories herself and adding some fun and humour to old favourites such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Humpty Dumpty and The Three Little Piggies.

Now she needs to sell the remaining copies so she can donate all the proceeds from the CD to Naomi House.

Wend got the idea for the project from telling stories to her grandchildren, Maia, 7, Darcey, 4, and Skye, 4.

“They loved me reading to them and telling stories, and gradually the stories got more and more animated,” said Wend, a keen singer. “I love singing and telling stories and sharing the excitement of nursery rhymes with children. I think it’s important to pass on these traditions to the next generation.

“My grandchildren have enjoyed hearing my voice on the CD and many other children have enjoyed it too. It would make a very good Christmas present for little ones and it is also for a good cause, with all the proceeds going to help children and families at Naomi House.”

Local musician and retired solicitor Nick Filbee helped with the project by providing the musical accompaniment and Karin Karian of Vocal Solutions assisted with the production.

Grandma’s Tricks costs £10 and is available from Wend Lewis by email at wm.lewis@virgin.net or by calling 07876 626703.
