A New Challenge for the New Year?

Sahara Desert Trek

The challenge of a lifetime and an undeniably unforgettable experience: from the 10th-18th March 2012 you could be trekking across the magnificent Sahara Desert, raising much-needed funds for the Naomi House children’s hospice. The Sahara trek is one of our most exhilarating and demanding challenges, therefore Naomi House is looking for adventurous and determined volunteers to represent them on this trip of a lifetime.

As a trekker, you will experience unforgettable scenery and physical challenge whilst contributing to a vital community service with every step you take. Charlotte Staples, a mother whose son stayed at Naomi House before he sadly passed away, has registered to take on this challenge and took a few moments to tell us why she decided to take on this particular event and why the cause is so close to her heart: “Naomi House Hospice will always be a very special place for my husband and I. The staff looked after us together as a family and I have always wanted to be able to give something back. For me walking the Sahara will be a huge personal challenge, both physically and mentally demanding; but being in such a vast place will give me the time to reflect on my experience, remember Seth and know that each step of the way I will be raising money to help Naomi House to help families like mine.”

So far, Charlotte has managed to raise an astonishing £4,346 in just over 2 months- with more to come! This is an immense achievement even before arriving in the Sahara. This shows just how willing people are to support the cause, especially for a fundraiser with such energy and enthusiasm!

Naomi House and Jacksplace are essential hospices for children and young people. All money raised contributes to supporting over 600 life-limited young people and their families with the emotional and physical challenges faced day –to –day, enabling them to enjoy precious time together.
