Barclays Bikers raise cash for Naomi House

Seventeen members of staff from Barclays Bank recently embarked on their latest challenge to raise funds for Naomi House by completing a gruelling 60 mile cycle ride in just over seven hours.

The intrepid bikers cycled a route linking Farnborough, Fleet, Aldershot, Woking, West Byfleet, Virginia Water, Ascot, Bracknell, Crowthorne and Yateley Barclays branches in the Three Counties Area where they were encouraged by colleagues and customers alike. The team hope to raise over £1,500 for each charity and every penny donated will be matched by Barclays.

Barclays Area Manager John Harland commented: “It was an exhausting day but well worth the effort and we were spurred on by the generosity of our colleagues and customers. Parkside and Naomi House are great charities and I am delighted that through our community investment programme Barclays will match the money raised which will double the impact of our fundraising.”

Bonnie Andrews, Development and Fundraising Officer at Parkside, said: “It means a great deal to us to have support from local people and businesses such as Barclays. Their continued support (through volunteering, funding and hosting fundraising events) enables us to continue working together in supporting adults and children with complex learning disabilities and their families”

Tina Starbuck, Corporate Fundraiser for Naomi House, said “We are so grateful to the Barclays Three Counties Team for their continuing support and to John for leading such a great event. Everyone at Naomi House appreciates the whole teams’ efforts not only in completing the challenge but raising this terrific amount in sponsorship for us”.

Parkside (Aldershot and District Mencap) were also beneficiaries of the bike ride.
