Naomi House Children’s Hospice has further strengthened its pioneering clinical team leadership structure with the appointment of two new paediatric experts.
Helen Bennett joins the Hampshire-based hospice from Oxford Brookes University where she was a senior lecturer in Paediatric Palliative Care. Helen has a wealth of experience and a national reputation for excellence in developing care through education. She takes on the role of Clinical Team Leader responsible for Naomi House’s bereavement work.
Tania Emery previously worked in Southampton University Hospitals Trust Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and brings excellent acute clinical skills and in depth understanding of the children’s hospice movement to her new role at Naomi House. Tania will be using her expertise and experience to lead the group responsible for workplace resource management.
In addition Naomi House has also welcomed Carer Chris Bishop and Nurse Andrea Ross who both join from the Winchester Dragonfly Team. Chris and Andrea bring valuable experience to the hospice’s care for life limited children and their families.
“Our pioneering and innovative clinical team leadership structure, commended by the Healthcare Commission, ensures that the needs of children and families remain at the heart of our work, “explains Director of Clinical Services Dr Eileen Thomas.
“We now have seven teams, each headed up by a leader with responsibility for a specific area of care such as care quality. We have also introduced structures and processes to ensure the safety of the care we provide while ensuring it remains child and family focused.
“The talents and achievements of individual members of staff ensure that Naomi House is the unique place it is – a mixture of clinical expertise and gentle care, of fun and emotional support delivered with kindness and care.”
