Well-known weather presenter, Alina Jenkins has helped Naomi House Children’s Hospice to hit the jackpot by presenting a cheque for £1,000 to its first ever lottery winner, Val Morgan from Salisbury.
“I was thrilled to be told by telephone that I was the very first winner of the Naomi House lottery but did not quite believe it until I received the cheque in the post the following day,” said Val. “My husband and I plan to put the money towards a holiday in Canada next year. I hope the lottery will be a great success and raise lots of funds for Naomi House.”
Profits from the weekly member’s lottery go directly to helping the purpose-built hospice, which currently offers care and support to 19 families from Wiltshire, provide a homely environment for children and young people with life-limiting conditions.
“With less than 1% of our income coming from government, we rely almost entirely on the generosity of people in the community. The new lottery will provide a regular and important source of income to help us continue our work and, with a £1,000 jackpot on offer every week, it means everyone can be a winner,” explains Lottery Manager, Su Guest.
Players pay £1 each week in advance for one chance to win and are given a unique six digit lottery number which is entered into the draw. Every Friday Naomi House’s lottery computer will randomly select 20 winning numbers.
The prizes are:
There are no rollovers as only fully paid up members will be entered in the draw and the winning cheques will be sent out automatically.
