Retired children’s nurse, Maddie Millyard from Kingsworthy is the latest jackpot winner in Naomi House’s weekly lottery.
Maddie, a nurse at the hospice from its opening in June 1997 until her retirement in September 2004, is a staunch supporter of Naomi House and now volunteers in the kitchens and at fundraising events. She has been involved with the charity since its very first fundraising meeting in 1992 when she was a children’s nurse on Northbrook Ward at the Royal Hants County Hospital.
When told that she had won the first prize, Maddie said: “Wow – I’ve never won anything like this before. I will use the winnings to take my husband to New York to do some Christmas shopping.”
And she urged would-be winners to get their application forms today, saying: “You can’t win if you don’t take part!”
Lottery Manager Su Guest said: “I was so pleased that Maddie is our latest winner. She has given so much to Naomi House over the years so it is lovely to be able to give something back to her.”
To be in with a chance of winning £1,000 or one of the other 19 prizes each week, contact the lottery office on 01962 826859 or visit www.naomihouse.org.uk to download an application form.
“It’s a great way of supporting your local children’s hospice but also to be in with a chance of winning. The lottery will provide a regular and important source of income to help us continue our work and, with a £1,000 jackpot on offer every week, it means everyone can be a winner,” explains Su Guest.
Profits from the weekly member’s lottery go directly to helping the purpose-built hospice provide a homely environment for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. With just 10% of its income now coming from government, Naomi House relies on the generosity of people in the community to continue its work.
Players pay £1 each week in advance for one chance to win and are given a unique six digit lottery number which is entered into the draw. Every Friday Naomi House’s lottery computer will randomly select 20 winning numbers.
The prizes are:
There are no rollovers as only fully paid up members will be entered in the draw and the winning cheques will be sent out automatically.
