Naomi House Children’s Hospice has named Rachel Houltram as its new Director of Care responsible for the day to day running of its services for families with life-limited youngsters.
Rachel is both a Registered General Nurse (RGN) and Registered Sick Children’s Nurse (RSCN) and has more than 30 years of nursing and managerial experience. Rachel has also worked as a health visitor and paediatric nurse and wrote her MA dissertation on support for families with life-limited children.
Commenting on her appointment, Rachel said: “I am passionate about involving children and families in planning their care, an approach which is right at the heart of Naomi House’s work. I am really looking forward to working with the Naomi House team and being part of such a well-known and well-loved local charity. “
Chairman of the Wessex Children’s Hospice Trust, Professor Khalid Aziz added: “We are delighted to welcome Rachel to Naomi House. She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this pivotal role which will enable us to build on our already high standards of professional care and support.”
Rachel, who has three children aged between 17 and 23, and a 2 year old granddaughter through her step-family, enjoys socialising and skiing in her spare time.
