Fe Fi Fo Fum, Jack Drops in to Have Some Fun!

Jack’s visit marked the launch of the Christmas fundraising appeal for jacksplace@naomihouse, the new hospice for young people, that will be built next door to Naomi House.

Jack, played by Caroline Newman, delighted the children by arriving in full pantomime costume and posing for photographs with them during the afternoon.  Jack was also joined by his brother from the pantomime, Silly Billy, played by Phil Gallagher, also known as Mister Maker from the CBeebies children’s series.

Caroline commented, “It is a lovely environment here at Naomi House, and the build up to Christmas is an exciting time for the children who visit.  It is wonderful to hear about the care and support that will be provided by the new hospice.  And I wish Naomi House every success with the Christmas appeal”.

Supporters can help to raise funds for jacksplace@naomihouse,by purchasing bricks, tiles, window and patches of the sports pitch.

jack’splace@naomihouse will provide care and support to young people from the age of 16 who have life-limiting illnesses and their families.  Naomi House launched an appeal in autumn 2007 to raise £12 million over the next three years, following the generous donation of £6 million by Jack Witham earlier this year.  The design of the new hospice incorporates ideas and suggestions from young people who currently use Naomi House to ensure that it will meet their medical, mobility and emotional needs.

“Jack’s visit today has certainly been a treat for the children and they have enjoyed the fun of having a fairy tale character here.  Our hope is that jacksplace@naomihouse will create an environment where young people can enjoy themselves too”, enthused Vicky Amos, Clinical Team Leader at Naomi House.  “The needs of young people are quite different to those of children, and the new hospice will embrace that.  The facility will give the young people greater space, privacy and independence” she said.
