Swap Milk Bottle Tops for Mobile Phones

Naomi House is asking local people to help turn ‘phones into fuel for its 10 bed hospice in Sutton Scotney near Winchester.

The charity, which offers one-to-one respite, palliative, terminal and bereavement care and support to children and their families from Berkshire, Dorset, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Surrey, West Sussex and Wiltshire, aims to raise £18,000 from its recycling initiatives to help pay its annual fuel bill.

“We’d like to thank everyone who has made our milk bottle top initiative so successful but with rising fuel prices, we need to concentrate on ways to maximise the money we raise from recycling,” explains Fundraising Manager Jane Tabor. “We’re asking our supporters to swap milk bottle tops for mobile ‘phones as we receive a minimum of £3.50 for each one we collect.”

“People can drop their unwanted ‘phones into any Naomi House shop or contact the Fundraising Office on 01962 843513 for details about how to be set up as a collection point.  All the ‘phones we collect are renovated for use in other parts of the world that are still developing mobile communications systems.”

Naomi House will no longer be able to accept milk bottle tops at its shops, at the Hospice or its fundraising offices in Winnall after 30 June. Printer cartridges, used stamps and foreign currency can continue to be dropped off at Naomi House shops or by contacting the Fundraising Office on 01962 843513.
