Roger Johnson is spinning around in Boscombe for Naomi House

Roger Johnson, from BBC South Today,  will be appearing at the Naomi House Charity Shop in Boscombe on 12th May to help the charity launch its “Round the Clock” appeal to raise £100,000 to support  Dorset families who visit the hospice.

Roger is a long term supporter of Naomi House, having been involved in many events and activities for the charity over a number of years. He will be joined by Alexis Green, also a member of the South Today team, and together they will go head to head on static bikes to race towards a 100 mile target to start the Round the Clock appeal.

A team from the local Wilkinson’s store will also be participating in the static cycle and with the help of customers, families and friends have been raising sponsorship for the event.

Members of the public can also take part in the fun.The individual who covers the furthest amount of distance in the shortest space of time will be presented with a prize of Wilkinson’s vouchers, which have kindly been donated from the store.

Each bike will have a target of 100 miles to cover throughout the course of the day. This is roughly the distance between the new Boscombe shop to the hospice and then back again. To help cheer on the cyclists the distance covered will be tracked on a map all day until reaching our desired target.

Since opening in 1997 Naomi House has supported Dorset families, who have children and young people with life-limiting conditions, with services that include planned and emergency respite throughout the year, end of life care and family support.  The “Round the Clock” appeal aims to raise the funds that enable the charity to provide these much needed services to Dorset families.
